LB Shoot // Rachel Wooley

This was from the first photoshoot I ever did with Rachel (who is now my wife), for the LB Brand & clothing company. Shot way back in December, 2014, shortly after we met. I had this post sitting as a draft here never published. Finding it made me smile and I thought I'd go ahead and share it all this time later. We now live in Macon, GA together where we are raising our 8 year old son, Elliot.

McCallister's Pond

A few years back, I met my father. On March 4th, 2012, he invited me to dinner at his place in Colfax, CA, which is a fairly wooded area in the northern foothills. As I pulled up to the driveway and got out of my car, I noticed a tiny pond formed around a septic tank with what must have been a few dozen frogs who stopped croaking as I approached. I left my H4n recording at the foot of the pond, and went inside for the rest of the evening. After retrieving my field recorder and listening to it later, I was so pleased to hear what was recorded here, as a passing train in the dark had added it's own deep, dark tones to the frogs' song.

New City, New Projects

The last few months have been a by-the-skin-of-my-teeth ride, with my making art whenever I've had my hands free enough. I've finally settled in the small but charming gold rush town of Placerville, CA, where I hope to put down some roots and get to work on many projects.

Fore-mostly, I've been asked to be a part of an amazing worldwide photography project:

"During the month of June 2014, around twenty photographers will contribute real time from around the world to the same Instagram account (@socphotogallery) that serves as the virtual gallery component to our hybrid gallery. That virtual gallery will become part of an interactive installation that is projected within the space of our physical gallery, cementing the creation of a true hybrid gallery. The virtual projected images will share the same space as printed images & furniture design pieces that also explore theories of interaction and experience of space and place. Images captured during the month will be available for print through our printing partner Roberts Camera. For more info, go to "

New Album Preview Track

I posted an unmastered track from the new beta cicadae album on Soundlcloud. A working title (taken from the café scene dialogue in Vivre Sa Vie). The album was made while I was living alone at Jilltree last year. It features lots of the woodland sounds from that place, simply recorded from my front porch.

"Mouna" out on limited CD & Vinyl

Hello and welcome to the new blog! (Welcome, Kevin.)

Even if I am only welcoming myself, I thought it good to start with a note on who I am and what I've been doing for the past couple years. That is probably best summed up in the grooves of this piece of vinyl right here.

PS you can buy this from the kind folks at Elegua Records now.

This will be the first and last piece of commerce I'll ever write about in this blog, but I just wanted to make sure the soundtrack to it was available.

I'm crossing my fingers in hope that this will be the blog of blogs, an amalgam of previously abandoned blogs and websites I have been too busy to maintain on their separate OWN. Trying to be a rock band, an experimental music artist, a recording engineer, and a photographer all with separate branding proved to be a little more complicated than simply a human being.

So, welcome to
